The ORA Acupuncture Facial: TCM Principles Combined with Modern Technology

While facial acupuncture and gua sha has been trending, we have been perfecting our ORA Acupuncture Facial which is an integrative approach combining eastern practices with modern technology. And, we’re excited to announce that it’s finally available.

What exactly is it?

The ORA Acupuncture Facial is a holistic treatment that involves an in-depth consultation, customized body acupuncture, a deep cleanse with top-of-the line skincare products, lymphatic drainage using either gua sha or facial cupping,  a lifting and toning microcurrent treatment, facial acupuncture and LED light treatment, a relaxing lower body massage to promote systemic circulation and ending with a sculpting facial massage.

So how does it work?

The foundation of the treatment is based on Inner Healing.

If you have a skincare concern (read: acne, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, puffy dark under-eyes, etc.), it’s likely a sign that your internal systems are imbalanced. Which is why our practitioners utilize face mapping to diagnose the root cause behind facial conditions.

What is face mapping?

Face Mapping is a method used to diagnose the root cause behind facial conditions that are present on the face.

For instance, dark, under eyes? Puffy face? You can blame the stress hormones, cortisol and adrenaline, causing hormonal imbalances which effect water retention, inflammation and restless sleep.

Acne? It could be because your digestive system is weak causing breakouts in your skin. Your skin is trying to purge these built-up toxins through your pores.

Hyperpigmentation? It’s likely inflammation caused by hormonal imbalances, stress, or external trauma to the skin (i.e. mascne, irritating products, popping pimples, etc.).

Let’s dive deeper…

Let’s stick with hyperpigmentation for a minute. Our practitioners know that there are acupuncture points on the face and body that reduces inflammation by promoting circulation, reducing stress, and boosting immunity via the lymphatic system. And, in turn, this can help minimize hyperpigmentation and congestion.

The same can be said for oily, acne-prone skin. If our practioners notice an excess of oil, they will know the skin is actually trying to balance the skin’s microbiome (aka the skin’s ecosystem). Often that means, our sebaceous glands are overproducing sebum (oil). Over time, this leads to inflammation and clogged pores. In The ORA Acupuncture Facial, the practioner would move beyond your face and use acupuncture points to promote circulation and decreasing inflammation via they lymphatic system.

So what about fine lines and puffiness?

While skin elasticity (i.e. fine lines) may seem irreversible, acupuncture actually creates collagen production rapidly, therefore tightening and toniing your face. Goodbye, wrinkles! When the skin is lifted and plumped via collagen, the appearance of fine lines are decreased.

Gua sha and cupping are also techniques used during the facial to drain excess fluid and congestion through the lymphatic system. Making your face slender and toned.

Where is the modern technology?

The ORA Facial Acupuncture Treatment also includes microcurrent to exercise the skin’s musculature to tighten and lift the skin. It’s like a workout for your face that accentuates your bone structure! Hello, cheekbones!
